Kitchen floor tiles - porcelain or stone?

Knowing nothing about tiles at all I assumed, until today, that natural stone was the best option and my house is currently full of samples of limestone, travertine and marble.

Today I went to a showroom where they tried really hard to convince me to go with porcelain, because it is harder wearing and maintenance free but in my head I think of this as 'fake stone' and in some way inferior (unfairly, I know).

The price appears to be similar, so I am still not sure which is the best option for my kitchen/utility room/breakfast room. It is quite a big space and I will have to live with it for a long time, so I want to get it right.

Also I am not sure about this tumbled edge malarkey - it makes the tile look nice and aged, but is this wrong in a new house? We live in a rural area, backing onto open fields etc, but I don't want to try to make the house into a country cottage.

Please give me some help on this, I am really overthinking it all!

Did you come to a conclusion on this earthworm? I am wondering just the same thing. It seems the nice imitation stone tiles can be even more expensive than real limestone or marble too....
