Is it worth paying more for a very large Franke one with a better layout or sticking to an Ikea bog-standard double Domsjo?.

I think the Domsjo is a very good sink the way it goes the full width of the worktop with that shelf at the back. And sits higher than the worktop so less backache for tall people. We are planning to fit one in our new kitchen.

I do wonder about its solidity in that way that most Ikea things are cheap because they have economised on materials somewhere. Which Franke sink have you got your eye on that has a better layout? ( I thought I had researched every ceramic sink in the world!)

Ah would it be this one?

What about Blanco sinks?

Yes it is Wednesday, but how can i justify the price difference to dh?.We are having solid wood units that can be made to any size -i need to specify the sink size by next week as they will be made the first week of may.It doesn't help my argument that we have installed today a single Domsjo sink plus Ikea cupboards in our new utility -and it looks really good. However i don't know how it stands up to wear and tear and i guess a sink is something that isn't changed too frequently!.I also like the design and the fact the taps are incorporated within the sink and that its not undermounted so less stress on wooden worktops.

Personally I would go for the Domsjo because I think undermounted ones are too low for us (tall person in this house). But go for the one you can work with, you will forget the price soon but have to live with it everyday if it doesn't work properly for you.

The great thing about Ikea is that it's not too expensive - what's the worse that can happen, the sink chips/cracks and you go to Ikea and get a new one for £200? You could even buy a spare one and keep it somewhere in the house if you were worried about it being discontinued.

We are the other way round, thinking of putting a traditional deep sink in the utility room for filling buckets/ washing sports kit, and Domsjo in the kitchen.

But dh has a memory like an elephant and will never forget price.I think you are probably the voice of commonsense here. Can you get a deeper sink than the singlo Domsjo?.If so i'm impressed - i never thought of doing a bucket check on mine. Will do one when the builders go for their coffee break.Celibin i don't think the sinks in this range differ appreciably from the Ikea version as far as i know.
