Anyone know what it's like? I'm viewing a house there tomorrow...

Suburbia

It's quite nice. It depends on what you are looking for really. Lots of middle income families and older couples. It's not one of the poshest areas but not one of the worst either.

Where are you looking?

A road off of amersham road, in between manor road and magnolia dene.

5 bedroom house?

That's just on the edge of Hazlemere towards High Wycombe. The Amersham Road is very busy but I think those houses are tucked away. You will get quite a lot for your money in that area. The villages futher out would be more money for similar properties (Great Kingshill, Tylers Green, Penn, Walters Ash, etc.).

What's you criteria?

We are moving from beaconsfield and have just been looking at about a 15mile radius from there, and the house is by far the nicest we've seen. Assume it's still in the catchment for good schools etc, any idea why it's cheaper?
I'm from east London, fiancé beaconsfield, so I don't know one place from another...

I know it really well -I live just the other side in Wycombe (the less nice area !) The Amersham road is really busy and I pass through it everyday to get to school...it can get really clogged up because of the Cof E school...but it usually moves ok. Is it catchment for primary you're after? Think it's the Cof E but it's quite competitive to get in. Nearby Manor Farm, Cedar Park and Tylers Green usually all take from that area too.

Tylers Green and Penn are lovely but yes, ChupaChups is right...you won't get as much for your money.

Nothing wrong with that area. Hazlemere merges into High Wycombe and is one of the better areas but it's not really a village which is why it is probably slightly cheaper. Also, the bulk of Hazlemere is made up of family houses - predominantly three bed semis so the house you are looking at is a bit of a cut above the rest. There are two fair size housing estates in Hazlemere - Manor Farm and Cedar Park. Both of them are okay (Cedar Park is nicer IMO) but it might be worthwhile having a drive around to get a feel for the place as this might give you a different impression of the place. I'd describe it more as BHS than Boden.

It's in catchment for the CofE school. Just had a look at the Ofsted report (2008) and it's all 2s so pretty good. Other schools nearby are Cedar Park and Manor Farm which are both good schools.
