Paint porn - my F&B colour chart arrived

I only ordered it for fun. We're about to buy a renovation project so nowhere near needing paint yet, but I do love to plan these things. I got it for my "if money were no object" fantasy.

But now I have serious F&B lust. And I've had a look and it's only a little bit more expensive than the Crown heritage range. And compared to buying good quality paint in France it's a bargain.

I've been on the F&B website, and looking at their room shots green ground is too pale. Borrowed light isn't rich enough.

Elephant's breath looks better than I imagined, but parma gray is now in the competition.

Oh and dead salmon is surprisingly lovely.

Oh they are soooo great aren't they! Hard decisions though!

Decorhate · 15/04/2011 07:12

Parma Grey is quite blue though. Used to have it on my kitchen cupboards.

I found the Crown Heritage range not v good on my old walls. Looked v patchy even after several coats. Have only used F&B eggshell though...

I have a great Dulux warm grey in my N facing living room - Bleached Lichen.

I've just painted my bathroom in Brassica, which looks absolutely lovely.I'm just waiting for it to dry and I'll do the woodwork in Calluna.

theoldbrigade · 15/04/2011 16:44

A large project , in my opinion you buy basic white emulsion. Then to the local art shop and buy small tubes of acrylic. Mix your own colours from there.

Saves a fortune and so very easy.

FlingonTheValiant · 15/04/2011 20:47

Thanks for the tip theoldbrigade. TBH we'll just white emulsion everywhere to begin with, and put up nice colours bit by bit. Downstairs first.

I did say it was fantasy :o

Their colours really are fab. I used to just like blues everywhere, but they have so many lovely shades of everything that I find I like at least one for each colour. I just need to work out how to use what I like without my house looking like an episode of art attack.

Thanks for the info about Parma Gray, Decorhate. I'd rather avoid blue-ish in case it's cold looking.

Perhaps Smoked Trout would be nice, it looks quite warm.

I've now decided I like Mizzle for the sitting room.

Mirage - Brassica and Calluna are lovely, I bet they look fab together

really theoldbrigade - that sounsd quite fun. how can you be sure of getting the same colour for each pot though? I love the look of brassica too flingon.

ChateauRouge · 19/04/2011 22:39

brassica is rather lush isn't it?

I am fantasising about going for Pugin-esque colours in my living room atm- a very deep blue, with tiny gold stars all over it. Is that weird?

hester · 19/04/2011 22:43

Mirage, I am planning Brassica for my bathroom, with a grey rubber floor and white brick tiles.

As soon as i can afford it...

GoodnightNobody · 19/04/2011 22:43

ooh Decorhate I've got bleached lichen too. In my hallway.

It's a bit like F&B shaded white. I love it, it's cool but not cold. Very nice to live with.

WideWebWitch · 19/04/2011 22:47

We have Crom Fog in one of the bathrooms, it's a nice blue pale grey. Actually, might be Fired Earth come to think of it, not F&B

WideWebWitch · 19/04/2011 22:48

Ah, yes, is FE, \link{http://www.firedearth.com/crom-fog\here}

Mirage · 20/04/2011 12:32

Oooh, hester,it was you I was discussing these colours with before, wasn't it? My bathroom is just about finished but with rectangular white tiles and a plain grey vinyl floor. As soon as I've finished painting I'll post a photo.

hester · 20/04/2011 21:09

Yes it was! Really looking forward to the photo - I feel like my bathroom has a penpal, somewhere out there in MN land...
