Underfloor heating?...and what flooring for kitchen?

two questions really...
We have a large kitchen/diner that was two rooms that we knocked into one three years ago.
We have had a leak which we are getting sorted soon and our laminate floor has started to shift and move so we need new flooring. In a way I don't mind as our laminate is quite orangey and I hate it!
So,tiles I like but the room is quite cold so I would want underfloor heating. Does anyone have this?I have heard it's very pricey.
Or what kitchen floor do you have and recommend?
Thanks.

I don't have underfloor heating, but I do have tiles - ceramic tiles in a smooth finish and I love them.

I've not even finished laying them yet! And already I love them. They are very easy to clean, cold, yes, but our kitchen is tiny so will solve this with slippers Grin and maybe a rug...

what we had before were horrible, rough brick effect ceramics and they had loads of rough grout in between - and were a very depressing brown. They were vile, impossible to clean, pointless as well as they never looked nice.

So I am bound to be in love with my new ones Smile

Hope you find the right thing for you.

Thanks Ingrid. What colour tiles do you have and what colour tiles?I am opening a whole new can of worms now!

We are getting Polypipe Overlay underfloor heating for a large area, 50m2 - it is costing us £3500 total including labour. It runs off the boiler - more expensive to install but more efficient to run than electric.

Thanks Bitzer. Pricey but I have learnt that if you are going to be in a house for a while there is no point cutting corners sometimes. Plus I don't want to regret not warming the room up,it just isn't cozy at the mo.

Hi, sorry went to bed!

We have pale green and cream in a chequer pattern, with black and cream on the wall (well that's the plan - not done the wall yet!)

Oak worktop
pine soild wood bespoke cabinets (am making those, slowly) which will be in a dark blackish brown stain I think, as it's nice with the green.

We got green as they were very cheap (job lot someone didn't want and returned) and the cream to coordinate and it looks lovely, surprisingly!

The main thing is how nice they feel...originally £20 a metre but we got for £4. I like a bargain Grin

Bit of a mad image link but no one had shots of tiles in these colours...
Floor colours!

I guess it's a kind of retro effect.
