Joist Bolts - Stopped sale currently

A few months ago my Nan's cousin passed away in a house fire. When she did there needed to be some work done to the roof support. This has all been completed by the insurance company contractor and was signed off by building regs - so is certified. A few days ago the purchaser's solicitor called the estates solicitor (dealing with sale as well) to advise him that the survey has brought up a problem with the joist bolts.

Now quite what it is no one is sure until we get a copy of the report, but does anyone have any idea what it may be given that the property has passed building regs?

My Mum is stressing about this considerably because the executors of the will are pretty useless (don't mean this horribly, but one is 85 and the other going through a divorce).

I do understand survey's so once I see it will probably have a clear idea of the problem, but I was just wondering if anyone might have an idea what the problem may be in the interim.

Could it be that a section of joist needed to be replaced, i.e. a new piece bolted on, and there aren't enough bolts, or they don't have the plate washers on the ends? It's true if building regs have signed off it should be OK but they don't inspect every single thing like a surveyor does.

I haven't seen the work, so don't know. I know that there are new joists because the house had a fire and this was one of the things that the builder had to replace. I assume (can I?) that this could be easily rectified by the builder.
