Wise MNers - please help me rearrange my living room!

Bit of background info: I live in a victorian semi that has a double lounge, which is quite long and thin - 26' x 12'6'' at its widest, although the front lounge is wider than the back lounge due to the hallway going around the staircase. We have a dining kitchen so we don't have any dining stuff in the lounge, it's just used for relaxing and entertaining.

Currently the front lounge has the "nice" sofa (which DH insists is uncomfortable, but which I am very attached to for sentimental reasons) plus two armchairs, a coffee table and a piano. The fireplace has bookshelves fitted on either side. The back lounge has a sofa (a modular one, which goes along the wall adjoining the hallway then goes round the corner up to the french window) plus a coffee table. The fireplace has DVDs on shelves to one side and the TV on the other.

Basically it feels like the whole room is oriented around the TV and I don't like this. Obv you want to be able to watch TV comfortably, but the layout feels antisocial somehow. I thought about getting a second sofa for the front lounge, so we could have two sofas facing each other, but the room's too narrow. I would like the room to feel more "open plan" and airy, and I'm looking for ideas as to how I can rearrange things to make the room less TV focused and more suitable for entertaining and socialising when people come round. Does anyone have any ideas? If you've got a similar house, how is your lounge arranged? All ideas welcome!

Mine is almost exactly the same dimensions, the staircase also being in the room itself. I've got a sofa running at right angles to the fireplace, and two matching armchairs facing it underneath the front window. The telly is a flatscreen and is next to the fireplace, and is visible but not intrusive. The fact that the chairs and sofa face each other makes it feel less telly-orientated and more sociable. Also, the arrangement makes the room feel wider. I can't quite visualise yours and would suggest sofas facing - would smaller sofas do the trick, perhaps?
