Window Covering Solutions for Kitchen Diner window and french doors?

We have just knocked through our kitchen and dining room wall to create a kitchen diner with loads of natual light etc. We are not overlooked from the back of the garden etc but would prefer to have blinds for the evening to make it cosy and also when we are away.

What have people done to cover French Doors and the window in kitchen diners? We don't want curtains on the French doors and would like the same style for both the windows and doors.

TIA

We've got trifold doors at the back of our extension and have used louvolite 'perfect fit' blinds.

link for you

My in-laws have recently had a kitchen extension with french doors and have got perfect fit blinds too. We've got the pleated versions and they've got a biscuit-coloured fabric version which look fab.

Ooh great thanks Planes will take a look. Can I ask if they are ££? Have no idea how much to spend on blinds as this is our first proper house and have normally gone with john lewis and habitat in previous flats.

Cheers

I have no recollection how much they cost - sorry, when we ordered them we also bought blinds for the rest of the house, so it was a rather large bill.

From memory they weren't too expensive and they have lots of fabrics to choose from - ours are very plain but suit modern house and in-laws are a little more stylish / contemporary.

I think if you've had JL before you won't find them too expensive.

I would assume they are very pricey given the lack of price info on the website. You could try panel blinds - prices vary from £ to ££££.

Thanks both - will take a look!

We got perfectfit Venetian blinds for our French doors, they just fit onto the frame, made to measure through a local company. They cost about £160ish I think for 2 doors in a 6ft wide opening (they just cover the glass part)

They are great, exactly what I wanted.

I had roman blinds made from calico with heavy interlining in my very cold conservatory and french doors. The mechanism for the french doors would need to be a very heavy duty ratchet mechanism in metal or plastic to cope with the weight of the fabric. There are so many pretty fabrics arround that i think you would be limiting yourself if you go for industrial looking blinds - but maybe you like that look!.Roman blinds made up by someone local would probably be considerably cheaper as well.

I have the same situation in my lounge, I have a square bay window with french doors. So 2 doors and 4 windows.

This company will give you a price on-line, you just enter the dimensions.

Click on whichever blinds you are interested in, venetian, roller etc choose a fabric and then enter your dimensions.

Thanks Fizzy will try them out. Teta I also do prefer the 'softer' look blinds but not sure how they would look over french doors.
