Playroom - ideas

We're converting the chilly cell study at the back of our house into a playroom. We're so tired of the dcs everywhere in the house.

It's not a massive room so I'm casting about for storage solutions. Habitat used to do a hollow set of cubes to set against a wall and fill with stuff - if you see what I mean! Hmm - but I can't find anything like that around.

What do you use to store and stack your dcs toys in, please?

I was in IKEA last week and they had dozens of storage ideas like this and lots of others. Any good?

something like these?

GLTC has lots of choices!

SunshineOnARainyDay · 03/03/2011 20:55

We have these GLTC ones. They are fab and look great and as we've got a few different ones they can be stacked or arranged in different combinations.

We have the Trofast stuff as suggested by Onlyaphase.

We use the shallow ones for figures/paper/aquadraw, medium ones for farm stuff, lego, cars. Large ones for anything huge or that we have lots of, food for their toy kitchen, and dinosaurs Grin

It looks neat, mine are labelled so they know where stuff goes. We have low ones so they use the tops to sit on or use as a desk.

I like the GLTC ones but they are expensive, plus Ikea is only 5 mile away from me so easy to get to Grin

IKEA also have the EXPEDIT range, you can put the cupboard on its side and theres also drawers, doors and boxes that go in the cubby holes to hide the crap, toys etc

Ive got these from Homebase here.

It doesen't say in the description but they are unfinished so you can paint/stain them, plus they're on castors. You can stack them too but would need to be screwed together for safety.

The Ikea Vessla box fit but you have to pop the wheels off with a screwdriver.

I have 2 sets stacked and it means I can put the really fiddly stuff up higher so the DCs have to ask for it .

We have Northcote from GLTC and its been great. My friend has Lazarri from GLTC and she likes that too. Trofast frm Ikea seems to be a very popular choice though, and cheaper than GLTC.

We are probably going for an IKEA white blocks and getting wicker cubes to put in, much cheaper than GLTC. DH said that trofast looked a bit too cheap to be on show - still buying some for the kids rooms though.
