Rendering a brick house

Does anyone know how much it costs? Any reputable companies in Herts?

My sister has found a big ugly beast of a house that contains the perfect space and it's in the perfect place. But ugh to the 70s brick facade.

Anyone had their house smooth-rendered, ready for painting recently?

We did, although not in Herts! We also had existing pebbledash taken off to expose underlying brick face which had deteriorated badly so had to be re-rendered. Cost was about £500, I think, plus painting which came later.

Thank you, Biryani. How big was the house rendered?

I can't help with the price, but do know you can also get renders already coloured, so wouldn't necessarily need painting after.

Look at a company called Back To Front Exterior Design, based in Farnham. Their gallery has some fab examples of how you can change an ugly facade.

Hairytoes - Thank you. Yes. We've looked at that website - but gather they charge about 70% of the cost of a knock down and rebuild. Sadly there's insufficient budget for that but she thinks perhaps she has enough for a new kitchen, new bathrooms, new timber casement windows and perhaps rendering the exterior.

I'm a big fan of ugly houses. Grin

Wow, that much! Won't be ringing them up then!

Hairytoes - Great website for inspiration though. Grin
