I cannot find a single house that I like in London costing less than 700k.

I despair.

It is either me being spoilt, or.....

gah.....

lovely road near good schools

noddyholder · 13/02/2011 20:31

could be lovely with a bit of TLC but more suburban area but easy commute into London

herhonesty · 13/02/2011 20:36

fwiw she wont be replastering "for free" she just wont have to pay as much tax on the rent she earns as she will be able to set this off as an expense.

iheartdusty · 13/02/2011 20:40

noddy, that second property you linked to is a decent house, but you'd think they might have tidied up a bit for the pictures - the kitchen is very...umm..real Hmm

noddyholder · 13/02/2011 20:43

I know but really you need to look through other peoples stuff We have all been drilled by reality shows but in general if someone likes the area the type of house and the price they will still buy something untidy.I really like it and know the area and it is a nice family place

figcake · 13/02/2011 20:45

iheart - thats exactly what I was thinking Hmm

bibbitybobbityhat · 13/02/2011 21:27

OMG! that Raynes Park house is fantastic!

QuintessentialShadows · 13/02/2011 21:55

See, a good thing is coming out of this, Bibbity is coming OUR WAY! Yippeee!

The Raynes Park house is great - an absolute bargain.

saltyseadog · 13/02/2011 22:32

(bargain for London - still not cheap!)

thebrownstuff · 13/02/2011 22:38

I think that house was staged to llook messy Hmm Doesn't look like natural clutter IMO

noddyholder · 13/02/2011 23:22

I used to live really close to that Raynes Park house. Train service was excellent, about 20mins to Waterloo and trains so frequent it was like getting the tube (but nicer). Wimbledon or Kingston for shopping. Lots of greenery and open space, great cycling - (Near Wimbledon Common, connecting to Richmond Park, connecting to Thames pathway). David Lloyd health club accross the field. Quick to get out of London by car if heading West or South. Not an exciting place in my day, though had a decent chippy and good (if hot!) Korean food. Would definitely consider it if I had to live in London again.

noddyholder · 13/02/2011 23:45

Why would you stage to look messy?I think its a rental nothing more!It could be fab though

figcake · 13/02/2011 23:49

Right, lets start a bidding war for that rather nice house!

Clary · 13/02/2011 23:59

Quint and others, loving that Raynes Park house.

Huge detached house with big garden, I can take a bit of kitchen clutter! Grin

(No intention of moving to London or knowledge of areas, but that looks like a lot of house for yr money)

thebrownstuff · 14/02/2011 07:08

I don't know Noddy...Pic of dining room - curtains neatly straightened out, chairs all symetrically/equidistant to table, photo frame on chair exactly in the middle of chair? And then clutter spread around.
Kitchen - Apples look deliberately placed at sink for colour. Chair at a precise diagonal angle and crutch placed neatly on it. Bag at complimentary angle at foot of chair. Full cup of bevvie on table.
I think they think they were being arty Grin

Decorhate · 14/02/2011 07:18

QS, we have had most of our house replastered since moving in. Don't think it cost more than a few 100 per room a few years ago (patching, sealing & skimming walls, plasterboarding & skimming ceiling.). SE prices...

Would def be the cheaper option..

QuintessentialShadows · 14/02/2011 08:37

Decorhate, I paid 2k for half a room 5 years ago. Needed to replaster after we build the conservatory. I guess even 20-30 is much less than a couple of hundred thousand extra! Grin

However, I have seen a few other nice houses in Raynes Park.....

DelGirl · 14/02/2011 13:29

nah, replaster, you know it makes sense Wink. You are looking at 16k minimum in stamp duty alone, never mind solicitors fees. Surely it can be done for that?

BoBoo · 14/02/2011 21:16

What about South East? You can get a ton more for your money and somewhere like Brockley is up and coming so potentially a better investment. Or here, near Blackheath. Or here. I haven't really read all the threads properly though, so probably not what you're after at all...

SpringHeeledJack · 15/02/2011 22:07

What Bib said

South East much nicer than west (still, I would say that, wouldn't I. We couldn't afford Tooting. Or Streatham Grin)
