Grrrr ... Sellers have pulled out

No explanation. We were so close to exchange, too. We have spent thousands on survey and fees.

I know there's no help for it but cheer me up anyway!

This shouldn't allowed or your costs should recoverable, poor you :(

howmuchyousay · 01/02/2011 10:48

Happened to us to, and we had already exchanged on our house (literally just thought there was a delay on his exchange).

I fully believe that it happened for the best and we had a lucky escape.

However, not much consolation at the moment and it was a terribly stressful time.

My sympathies.

That's terrible - poor you Sad

They must be mad! Have they given any reasons??

Sometimes I think the Scottish system would be so much more preferable (can stand to be corrected by any Scots on here though!).

crapbarry · 01/02/2011 12:19

oh, we're in much the same boat mumsnut - except we're pulling out, because the sellers won't produce the paperwork required by our bank to enable us to get a mortgage on the property. they've been farting about for bloody ages over it, and every week we've been getting told 'it's over' on the friday, then 'oh, something has been produced' by thursday, then the bank saying 'nice try, it's still not what we asked for'.

we're licking our wounds for a couple of months, saving back the solicitor and survey fees, then going looking again. It's so bloody soul destroying (and expensive, grr).

Fiddledee · 01/02/2011 12:23

Happened to me recently and we had to pull out recently. All for the good we are exchanging on our house today and have had an offer accepted on another house today with no chain.

Although in this market I would only move if you really have to.

It is veyr annoying to lose the fees though.

Monkeytoo · 01/02/2011 12:24

This just happened to us too and it's really upsetting isn't it. It's left us having to rent as we were in temporary accommodation already so even more extra costs.

scotlass · 01/02/2011 12:27

smashin I concur our system definately seems less stressfull. Once the missives are signed there's no withdrawing on either side

Mumsnut · 01/02/2011 16:50

Thanks for the sympathy, Ladies. It is scary how much this happens - so exhausting and EXPENSIVE. They had been very slow with the paperwork asked for on building regs and renovations, so I am convincing myself it is all for the best and somewhere better is round the corner ...

gutted for you, it also happened to us in january and we found out today that we will definetly lose the property that we had paid searches et al for

so annoying, i hope i never see the couple that did it to us

crapbarry · 03/02/2011 11:52

it's finally finished for us too - we still had a glimmer of hope, but the sellers decided yesterday to put the house back on the market. We've looked on rightmove, but it's just depressing, the only houses we like are out of our price range - by 50K and more. And we're so-called high earners. Angry Sad

good luck everyone finding a new place soon.
