Sinking trampoline into the ground - DIY or not?

I'd like to sink our trampoline into the ground.

I've heard various different versions of how big the job is, from just digging a big hole to concrete foundations etc!

Can you do it yourself or do we need someone to do it for us. If so, who? builder? landscaper?

Where to start, where to start.

I think you would need more than a big hole and really, to do it properly, a builder who can render the inside and finish the edges. It does beg the questions what you will do with the space when you no longer need the trampoline...

Nah. Big hole is fine as long as the ground is firm.

Ours has been up (down) 6 years and I recently took mat off to check and it remains totally clear.

But it is still a huge job as you can't skimp on the depth all around.

We paid to get it done and the poor bloke clearly underestimated. It took him days and days

Sorry , should add.

We got a garden landscaper to do it as we had a soft wood decking built all around and shaped through that end of the garden.
If not I probably would have done it ourselves but regard it as a big project to be done over several days.
You will also produce a lot of soil that you will need rid of.

what is to stop the hole filling up with water ? I guess it depends on the soil - our heavy clay has standing surface water at present. I can imagine we would end up with a new pond with a trampoline on top :)

If you have standing water now then you will have standing water five feet lower.

It will depend on the soil.

Ours was firm enough to hold with outward sloping sides. If it is too loose or too solid it may be a different issue

Pond trampoline sound fun though.

You could get all boden and call it a trampoline swimming pool combo

Great. Thank you. Will try to find a landscape gardener.

We have side access which is just about big enough to get the wheelie bins down, so hopefully he might be able to fit a mini digger. Either way, it's a lot of wheelbarrows!

We had ours sunk when a new septic tank was fitted in the garden so the digger was already on site.. a drainage pipe was installed too. I don't think you would get anway without one. (it would make the place stink with stagnant water for a start). They also made sure it was a very tight fit, so that no little legs could slip down between the trampoline & the grass..
ours is fab, but Im glad we left it to the experts.
