Would a 2 bowl sink be OK with a dishwasher?

We are thinking (in the long progressing kitchen plans) having a dishwasher and a double bowl sink, probably this white monster. I want a sink that replaces a section of worktop (wood worktops) which limits the choice of them. The idea is to use the second sink with either a draining rack in it or for veg preparation etc.

We've never had a dishwasher before, I presume you mostly use the sink for washing up big pans/baking tins etc if all your plates go into the DW, so there is less drainer space needed?

You can put almost anything in the dishwasher except wooden things (we have a couple of pans with wooden handles and a chopping board). Apart from that, almost everything goes in. We also have two bowl sink (well, one and a half) and tend to use the half to leave pans to soak etc before putting in d/w.

It'll be fine. Hope your kitchen plans work out.

Thanks lalalonglegs.

The one I really like is this but Shock at the price. Someone has really thought about the design of it.

i have a dishwasher and two sinks. i love it. both sinks are big enough for roasting dishes and there is so much less hanging aroundthe sides now looking messy. fabulous. you wont regret it!

I have a double sink and a dishwasher, it's great. Don't have a draining board though, no need. When I occasionally wash up I just put a rack over the second sink. I'd rather have two full sinks and no drainer than a sink and a 1/2 sink with a drainer.

op, if you mean will the dishwasher fit under the sink then the answer is no.

I'm going for a double sink no drainer too. Fed up with having a sink full of dishes and needing to drain food into a half bowl - water goes everywhere. I'm not keen on marking the quartz with drainage lines either - companies like Blanco and Franke make drainers to fit over your second sink or to sit temporarily on the work surface.

Love my dishwasher but I still like to hand wash knives, saucepans and other bits and peices - am very precious about my kitchen equipment.
