I really like the look of Neptune kitchens - anyone had one installed?

I have had a quote from Neptune- it is actually the same company as kitstone. They were nice but not as cheap as i expected -the adverts are a bit misleading. They also have a limited range of accessories - no larder pull outs etc.

If you like painted shaker style without London prices look at parlour farm and cotteswood and the handmade kitchen company.

Oh, that's interesting, Fipa. I do love the look of the Neptune kitchens, and will take a look at the other companies you mentioned. Cotteswood is local-ish to me too. Do you mind me asking if you have had a kitchen fitted by any of these companies recently?

Am looking at Cotteswood too. Any feedback?

Just had Cotteswood round to do a design. Impressed so far.

I have a close friend that had one fitted a couple of years ago. It still looks great and they are very happy with it.

We've just got a neptune unit for the bathroom, which I think I love more than my husband. I'm not sure we could stretch to a whole kitchen though, much as I would love to. I have looked into them, and they aren't all bells and whistles in terms of internal fittings. They are lovely though.

Am I insane for wanting my whole house to look like a neptune brochure? So calm and uncluttered, and not full of kids plastic crap and the detritus of the real life day to day. Bliss.

PS I do love my DH quite a lot, in case that statement was ambiguous

Rational - did you pay list price for the bathroom unit or did you get a discount?

Also want to live the neptune dream, but the sticky fingers (husband), crayons (husband) and milk stains (kids) do interfere, as you say.

Fipa, what does the list price not include when you mean the units don't come with bells and whistles?

Oops, sorry for extra post. That'll be the sticky fingers....

I think we got about 10% off (ostensibly so they can come and take a picture, but they haven't bothered yet), but it's negotiated with whatever shop are supplying it, so you can but ask.

I think Fipa means that the designs aren't very high tec compared to some, not that there are loads of extra prices for extra inserts. The pricing seems quite straightforward I think.

I'm not sure hand painted wood is really that kitchen/kid friendly in all honesty. Much as I love it, I wouldnt want to be wincing every time a child slammed a hard toy into it, or chucked pasta sauce everywhere. Maybe I've just talked myself down to Wickes until the kids are older have left home. The bathroom is my little slice of Neptune fantasy though, love it.
