DP and I are considering moving back to his native Scotland, so we can get a place with a bit more space.

I found this, do you think it'll do?

Its lovely and a 45 foot ballroom is of course an absolute must since Strictly is on the TV.

HMTheQueen · 22/12/2010 11:36

I particularly like the nursery being so detached from the rest of the house... wouldn't want the pesky children to disturb my work in the 'Poet's room' or the 'Flower Room' Grin

TheParasiteofChristmasPast · 22/12/2010 11:37

it is lovely, we often walk through the grounds. good luck with the move and i lookforward to popping in!

Maisiethemorningsidecat · 22/12/2010 11:53

Oh, I see you've found our house. Yes, we're upgrading as the ballroom isn't quite big enough Grin

Gifford is lovely.....and yes, definitely move back to Scotland!

threefeethighandrising · 22/12/2010 12:02

BeenBeta and HMtheQueen - that's just what we thought, essentials of course.

TheParasiteofChristmasPast that'd be delightful, do pop in! (You will remember to remove your muddy boots first though, won't you?!).

Masie. Hmm. I would say 45 foot is quite adequate. Anything bigger would be a touch on the vulgar side, don't you think? Wink

This is nice too, although it's just over the border a bit.

Vulgar??? Moi??? Yes, very probably Grin

That one in Belsay is very lovely too
Are you seriously looking at houses like these? Envy

threefeethighandrising · 22/12/2010 12:51

Seriously?! Why of course my dear! Wink

Oh, OK then - not really! I was just having an idle look at houses in the Borders (an area DP loves, and which is on the list for possible places we might live in the future) and the list came up with most expesive first. I couldn't resist a look!

In reality, our last flat was probably smaller than the gate in the first one! (See picture 11).

But one can dream, no?! Grin

There's no price on them but I reckon you'd need to win the Euromillions lottery to have a chance at afording them!

threefeethighandrising · 22/12/2010 12:52

I can't even spell afford. There's no hope for me is there?! Xmas Grin

usualsuspect · 22/12/2010 12:53

Maisiethemorningsidecat · 22/12/2010 13:03

No, there is no hope! Grin

A girl can dream though....imagine being able to afford houses like that Shock

threefeethighandrising · 22/12/2010 18:53

Ooh I'm sure it'd be awful. I mean think about it... What if you mislaid something - your glasses / some guests / a child or two, perhaps? You might not find them for weeks!

And all the parties you'd have to throw, to show the place off. Very tiresome I'm sure Grin

OP posts:
TheParasiteofChristmasPast · 22/12/2010 20:00

but there is a really nice pub at the end of the village

herhonesty · 22/12/2010 20:20

small.

allnightlong · 22/12/2010 21:04

three you'd need to win the euro lottery at least twice once to afford it then again for the upkeep!

MsGaGa · 22/12/2010 21:14

Paws off, OP, I saw it first Xmas Wink

Hassledge · 22/12/2010 21:16

Those Old Stables (slide 14?) are a bloody disgrace - they should come down at least 80% of asking price for that, I reckon.

TheYuleLogLady · 22/12/2010 21:18

stables need a bit of work. apart from that it's delightful.

Maisiethemorningsidecat · 23/12/2010 12:18

Mislaying a child or 2 for a few weeks? Oh yes, that would be dreadful HmmGrinGrin
