So we are buying a house that needs an overhaul (complete redecoration and new kitchen- possibly new bathroom but may leave that one).
Hoping to complete early jan so want to take advantage of the sales-
which ones are the best for kitchens and DIY!

Basically kitchens are on permanent discount - they come off sale for the minimum legal time - so they can supposedly sell at a discount. It's hard to see when you are getting a genuine bargain.

There are lots of websites selling second hand and ex display kitchens which might be worth a look - depending on your layout you can get lucky.

Bumping this as we are doing the same thing (just completed). Planning to go for a Benchmarx or Howdens kitchen as our builders have accounts with them and should be cheaper than most retailers even with discounts.

Kitchens and bathrooms,Wickes and Victoria Plumb.I have just recently got 57 sq. metres of travertine tiles fronm Wickes for just over 1000 pounds due to discounts and online codes [50% off in total].Bathrooms are a really good price from Victoria Plumb [but installation and instructions are pretty crap!].

We had a whole house refurb and extension last year and got all the bathroom stuff ( 3 loos, 2 showers, 3 sinks, a bath etc ) from a trade place. Miles cheaper than going to a bathroom showroom of any sort and they sell virtually every brand under the sun.

See if you can find a big trade plumbers merchants near you that accept private orders - it works out around 30 percent discount. I can recommend the one we used, but unless you're in Kent will be a hike for you.

We got most of our kitchen from Ikea, which is permanently keenly priced.

I'm in Kent taffeta (SE London borders) - what's your recommendation?

Not sure if you are going to get carpets or not but we got some money off because i gave smaller room sizes in shop and got quote from that plus managed to get a bit extra discount just for asking. When man came round to do accurate sizing he gave us higher quote than in shop..obviously because I had given smaller room sizes....I then said oh that's higher than in shop and not sure we can afford that so will have to think about it. Within 30mins of bloke leaving we had call from shop giving us original quote in shop. Saved us £350!
