What size rug to go under super king bed?

I'd like something which covers the floor on both sides of the bed and a bit at the bottom, to make our room a bit cosier in this weather (the floor is sanded boards).

Would a 3x2m rug be enough or do I need to go bigger still? The bed is 180cm wide x 200cm long.

TIA

Bigger - you will have nothing at the bottom end (unless you don't have it right up to the headboard end of the bed) and only 60cm each side which is quite a skinny area.

Thanks, yes I realised as I wrote the post that I probably needed a bigger size.
Any ideas where to look? I havent bought a rug for ages...

I think ebay is always a good place to start [grin}. If you type in rug there is an option when a squillion come up that let's you choose by size so at least it would give you an idea what's out there in big formats. John Lewis always had a huge rug dept but I always thought their stuff was quite bleurgh. Ikea actually do some very nice ones but not sure they go up to that size.

Thanks, yes will check out ebay and John Lewis. There is not IKEA near us but will see what they have on-line.

Having had a very quick browse generally, there aren't many large sizes available...

Could you buy some carpet and get it edged to make it into a rug? (We did this at a local independent carpet shop.)

Pannacotta · 04/12/2010 22:18

Thats a good idea, thanks. Will see if I can find what I want and take it from there.

Good idea! I've got a new kingsize bed with castors on a wooden floor and it skates across the floor at every opportunity! Will look at nice and cheapy rugs in Ikea!

Pannacotta · 07/12/2010 17:08

Reshape castor cups will also work, bit cheaper than a rug...

Have tried three different types of castor cups so far! Best were the rubber type but the bed still rides right over them when it moves. It's a bloody posh bed too, a ViSpring, and I just presumed castors would be lockable. Hmm

Pannacotta · 09/12/2010 23:06

Vi-Spring sells locakable castors as well as large castor cups. I know as our bed is the same make and I've just had to buy some castor cups.
Call the place you bought the bed from and they will help.

Really? Ok, it was Furniture Village (we are very unimpressed with their customer service so far, tbh, but worth a try) and I will call them tomorrow and ask what to do.

Thanks! Smile
