If you were due to exchange in this weather would it still go ahead?

Dh and I were wondering about this as we have our house on the market. If you were due to exchange on a day like today would you have to still go ahead with it or would you be able to delay?

why would you delay exchange ? Completion is when you'd physically move but legally you are bound into that date at exchange.

The snow is really deep round our way. Wouldn't it be horrendous to pack a removal van in this weather. I did mean completion and not exchange.

I agree with LIZS - exchanging is just a legal process, neither party actually 'does' anything.

If my buyer/seller tried to stall an exchange because of the weather, I'd think they were trying to delay proceedings for some reason .....

Legally, if you agreed this as a moving date, it would have to go ahead. I suppose you could negotiate another day if everyone in the chain wanted that - can the moving company get to your house?

We are due to complete on Friday and our solicitors have said that technically if we didn't move on this day we would be in breach of contract, however in the real world if weather prevents moving then if all parties agree, moving can be delayed.
