Could you lshort-term let a property you're planning on buying

So we've found a house to buy, everything is going ahead but we're really short on time and I'm worried we're not going to be able to complete before we have to be out of our rental. I'm sure the answer would be no and if I was the vendor's solicitor I can certainly think of reasons to advise against doing it, but do you think in any circumstances it would be possible to let the property you were buying for a couple of weeks before you completed?

Perhaps if you have already exchanged they would go for it. Really, all you can do is ask the vendors... I wouldn't necessarily advise a seller to do it (if I were her solicitor) but I do have friends who have moved in early on this basis.

Ask, I know someone who bought a house and then rented it to the vendors while they found somewhere to live.

I don't want to ask yet, because I think then they could potentially delay matters to get some extra money out of us (you never know...). I think we'll wait until we're a little closer to the edge, but I feel a little bit more hopeful now.
