My DP has literally just been given the nod to apply for a promotion at his company for a position based in the region. I have no idea about the area and am about to start googling- I am a northener currantly living in cheshire.

Whats it like?

Any nice areas for good schools?

Are people nice?

Sutton Coldfield. Sorry can't be any more help. Some bits are better than others. Four Oaks is nice I think. Depends where you're coming from though.

Hope someone will be along who knows the area better than me.

I grew up in the area, budget will be a major consideration.
I'd avoid Erdington and Kingstanding which are near by, Wylde Green was always nice, as is Boldmere.

It's a nice place, near to a lovely park.

Edgbaston, Bournville, Selly Oak, Selly Park, Barnt Green, Harbourne, Streetly, Moseley, Four Oaks, Solihull, Arden, Lichfield all nice areas too and not that far away.

Bit further out is Leamington, Stratford, Harbury, Warwick.

We moved to Four Oaks last year on account of the decent schools. Very nice, green & leafy, close to Sutton Park. Town Centre a bit shabby but has all you need and Birmingham good for shopping. Good choice of grammar schools, couple of private schools etc.

Depends on how far your dh is prepared to travel, there are some lovely villages around.

sorry was working yesterday so i didn't get chance to pop on line- anyway the job will be based there but i'd want to live close by within 30 min commute as he will be going from shift work to a 9-5 so i want to take full advantage of eating tea together!

We could have a budget of 250-300k but to be honest as long as it has 4 beds and is in a good school catchement area I'm not too fussed about anything else.

We currantly live on a private estate in the middle of the counrty so would like a friendly, not rough area. A recently refirbed house or a new build would suit us- we'd rent first then buy I think.

I would always rent first when moving to a new area.
We nearly bought a right lemon when we first moved up North, was very glad to not renew the tenancy.
