Consent to let letter

Does anyone know whether if we ask for a consent to let letter from our mortgagees we would be asked to change to buy to let mortgage? We are with nationwide and as houses are not selling at the mo and we have seen one we like we were going to rent our current home out in order to purchase the new and sell this one when / if Market picks up.

Do you know whether we would be able to do this for a certain amount of time before having to change to buy to let?

Any advice appreciated. Thanks

We did this about 5 years ago with Nationwide and didn't have to change any of the terms of our mortgage.

From what I remember, I think they charged us £150 and would only give permission for a year at a time (only took a phone call to renew). We did it for 2 years before we sold our flat.

My sister did this and kept her mortgage terms but they limted it to 2 years.

She just gave them a call and they changed it over the phone.

I'd call your mortgage co. as I think some may handle it differently. We're in same position and when I called them last month to enquire they said that I'd have to put request in writing and they'd charge us an additional 1 pct p.a. interest on our current rate when they give written agreement. Hmm
