Grin Well our fitter screwed in a new plywood floor surface which is very flat and solid and apparently suitable for lino or tiles; it's in our upstairs bathroom so presumably there are floorboards underneath, as elsewhere in the house. I think if you have an uneven concrete floor you might need to use a screed to level it. Lino and vinyl need a flat, even surface so you don't get buckling and lumps which will make it tear. Is that hat you were asking about (underlay is what goes under carpets usually)? But I'm not super-qualified to answer the question -- I just thought some more detail would help more useful people to give you a response Smile.
