Driveways

OUr tarmac driveway is looking very knackered at the moment, with two big worn out patches and a few little holey bits.

Has anyone any experience of having a driveway patched, or do you have to have the whole thing dug up and re-tarmaced?

And roughly what sort of money? The drive's about 40 feet long with a turning area at the top.

Yes I know it's really boring, but I'll have to bump just this once.

you can patch it yourself with a cold lay repair tarmac which is about 8 quid a bag and you can acheive fairly good results.

If you are running vehicles on the drive regularly though, the best thing is to get it repaired properly.

You can save money by prepping the area yourself if you are so minded by squaring off the holes with a disc cutter - then you can find a local tarmaccer who you can tell that the holes are pre-prepped and he can fill them in as and when he is passing with a bit of spare material .... cost around £50-100

If you don't feel like doing that then they will patch it for you but you should put 400-1000 to one side by the sound of it

Thanks MM. We won't be doing it ourselves, but it's handy to have an idea of what the contractors are likely to cost.

I'd actually prefer to have the whole thing redone, but dh is reluctant to spend more than absolutely necessary (cheapskate Wink)
