Where to live in Chester?

We're going to relocate up to Chester and I'm after advice on which areas would suit us best to rent then buy in!

We'd like a 3 bed house with character (ie not new build or boxy), with (any size)garden near to the city centre - we're moving from london and like being near town.

Thanks for any advice on the best areas to look at!

Hi, I was reading the all your comments on living/moving to and around Chester / border Wrexham or neighbouring villages. I am currently also looking to relocate to this area but your comments are from 2010. I wondered if anyone can advise now we are in 2013 some of the best schools for a 7 year old boy, mum and dad will be working in areas such like Belgrave Rossett , we also looking at buying 3 bed house preferably either village or new build but don't know the areas enough yet to decide.
Thanks

Hi Mumelly - not sure whether you are still looking for advise? I have lived in Chester all my life growing up in Pulford and now living in Rossett. Think about whether you want English or Welsh schools first but Rossett is a beautiful place to live and the village primary is very good. If you want English schools you can cross the border from Rossett to Dodleston, Eccleston or Farndon. Hope this helps!

How about the villages just over the Welsh border? Some things like better NHS provision can swing it in Wales.

I am going to buy a hand car wash in Chester. I am not sure if it will be good place for this business. I am very keen in doing good service but I do not know if this place is proper for this business. Thank you for any advice.

I live just over the border...in Hawarden, only 20 mins by car to Chester.

The Welsh NHS is a major bonus.

Just noticed this is an old thread...sorry.

Hello I'm hoping there will still be some of you around to help me with my queries ?
I currently live with my daughter in North Wales but seriously thinking of moving us to Chester before she starts high school in 18 months ...many reasons but the main being a fresh start , new opportunities and to make new friends and a new life !!!
Advice on best secondary schools ...not private and areas to live and rent ......I really hope for some feedback please ??

Upton high school has a good reputation. Christleton also does well, but there has been comment that this is due to a high standard of achievement of incoming pupils in yr 7 rather than down to the school.
