If/when to chase contractors to provide quotes

Not done this kind of thing much so am looking for some advice...

We had a guy (who was reccomended) come exactly two weeks today to quote for installing engineered wood flooring in our living room, dining room and hallway. He checked the sub-flooring, took the measurements and said he would drop the quote round. We haven't heard anything from him since. DH called on Monday during the day and left a message and then called Tuesday evening and left another message. Still haven't heard anything. Do you think it sounds like he isn't interested in the job? Should I attempt to contact him again or just leave it now? I am getting quotes from others but this guy came on a reccomendation so would really like to see what he comes up with.

He's not interested. I've had this a lot and it really p*sses me off. We had three people in to quote for some plastering and only one of them bothered to send a quote.

Assuming he is working 6 days a week - he may have not got around to it.

In this instance I would leave a message stating that if you dont here from him within the next day or so you will accept a quote from another fitter.

If he's highly recommended then he's busy and there are always assumptions on this site that they cant be bothered. No its not my husband works over 12hrs per day and pricing work is difficult to get around to when he's knackered in the nights (plus family committments)Its very difficult to balance but usually when someone puts pressure on he does get around to it.
