Juliette balcony safety

We are having our loft converted soon, to add a much needed third bedroom, and have the option of having a Juliette balcony instead of a regular window at the rear.
This sounds lovely and would add more light and air to the room, but just wondering if it would pose a real safety risk for our 3 year old dd and we should just go for a sash window instead?

Keep the door locked.
Have you thought of the bigger picture, with regards to resale value, I don't know if such a thing would put future buyers off, would you have bought your house if it already had the Juliette balcony?

yes that's true, we could keep it locked most of the time if needed. We would have bought the house if it had the juliette balcony and I imagine it would add value as opposed to detract...

We have a Juliet balcony, and there's no way a 3yo would go through it or over it, unless they dragged something over to climg onto I suppose. There are rules about having the bars the right distance apart to be safe.

We have one too and I have no concerns re safety. Even insane adventurous 2.5year old DS3 has not managed to fling himself out of it yet Grin.

And yes, there are very strict building rules about how close together the bars must be to not even allow a baby's head through.

FWIW, we do keep the doors usually locked with the key pulled and kept at adult height.

I also hope think that it adds to the value of our house, not detracts, harumph!

We have a juliet balcony and it seems perfectly safe.

Yes, aesthetically it looks nicer and adds value to the house.

Go for it.

We put in a glass one and its great.

I was more bothered about the kitten getting out before he'd had the snip than the DC tbh.

We have a glass one and love it from a company called balconette. Also, we have a sliding patio door rather than inward opening doors so we can leave it open a crack at night without getting in the way of the blinds/curtains and also not having to worry about furniture in front of it.
