Pleae choose a paint colour for my house!

We're about to redecorate most of our house and I need to start choosing paint colours. Can you work your MN magic on our decorating dilemma?

I'm thinking about doing most of the rooms one colour in order to make the whole house seem brighter and bigger. However, I would like the wall colour to contrast with our windows without being too dark. The windows have recently been renovated and are painted in F & B new white which looks quite creamy in my opinion. We really don't want to repaint the windows if at all possible but I'm worried it would look strange with walls a lighter shade than the woodwork.
Any suggestions for a wall colour that would work?

BTW we would be decorating our living room, kids play room, kitchen diner, downstairs hall, landing, and spare bedroom, and the paint doesn't have to be an F & B colour!

Walls lighter than woodwork can look really elegant. You could use one of the lighter but creamy/yellow based F&B whites, like White Tie? I agree quite rich, isn't it?

But the deep the colour you use, the lighter and more white the windows will look, so if you are looking at the colu=our now, in isolation, or against pure white it will look a bit scarily yellow, but the finished effect will be much more light and subtle against a slightly deeper colour. So long as you don't pick a blue or blue-based grey. That will make it look even more yellow!

Did you want an actual colour, or a neutral?
Matchstick would work I think.

Or Dulux Bleached Lichen (from the mixed to order range) it is really really lovely for a large open airy sort of feel.

Thanks FN.
Actually you're right I would prefer a neutral rather than a colour. This is how amateur I am at this sort of thing, I didn't realise they would be classed as differently.

I'll look at your suggestions.
