Vendors Solicitors are SO slow!

I just cannot understand why things seem SO drawn out and longwinded!

We've just been informed that because the vendors solicitors aren't returning any calls we are no further along than we were 3 weeks ago, having originally been told we'd be in by the end of August!

We had the problem a few weeks ago of one of the vendors filing for bankruptcy and despite being reassured that we have done all we can to ensure things are back on track (we're paying Estate Agents and both sets of sols fees), NOTHING is happening.

If they'd told us from the start we were looking at being moved in by November, I'd have been happy enough but all this geeing along is just annoying.

I know I'm over simplifying, but why can't they just take our money, give us the keys and sort all the crap out between themselves?! The house is sitting empty and I'm due DC2 in 6 weeks and am about to lose DD's nursery place!!!

Sorry, really needed a moan!

Angry at bloody solicitors.

I suppose, at the end of the day, they are working for the vendors, not you. Perhaps it suits the vendors to spin things out - our solicitor said he could easily "slow things down" if a customer wanted him to. Very frustrating for you, though Sad.

Big alarm bells here - something not right. 3 weeks is too long for no action. Suggest you consider it may all be falling through. Would definitely be doing Big Threats myself now - ie registered letter from sol to their sol and another to vendor saying if no contact by Monday then you are pulling out. Sorry to be gloomy.

How annoying. Moving house when you're imminently due a baby is a nightmare. Sad Hope you find out what's going on soon.

Can the estate agent speak to the vendors to find out what is going on?

30andMerkin · 01/09/2010 13:54

Um, if you are paying the vendor's solicitors fees, then they are working for you. I would be getting seriously shirty by now.

moominmarvellous · 01/09/2010 14:36

The shirtiness is in full swing!

We have had some information, it appears we're waiting for written agreement of the new terms from the receivers. It's been verbally agreed (last week) and it should come this week. Apparently once this is received things can get moving again.

The vendors don't seem to care as they don't benefit from the sale, so they're no good. All parties just seem so bloody vague and say what they think will happen next - I can't plan around speculation!

We're holding on for now with it in mind that things will take a lot longer than we were originally told.....grrrr!

Reckon I'll be checking out Rightmove again this evening..... :(
