hi has anyone had a bathroom fitted recently??
any ideas on how much fitting might cost?

We are fitting two at present. It's an old house....we are paying builder 10k plus tiles, sanitware, shower cubicles etc. I think we will end up spending near between 17k and 20k which is more than I had thought. Can check more detail and let you know later

I've been told by my builder the basic labour cost is 1500 pounds plus the cost of the sanitaryware and tiles .I am in shock at the cost of your bathrooms TDiddyShock

yes, it include replumbing upstairs and some rewiring. Also we are putting a rooflight and redoing ceilings in both bathrooms... so not a fair comparison. Also, I am trying to bribe buider to leave!!!

Mine cost just under 4k. I kept the original bath and my sister gave me a sink that she had bought for her new bathroom that didn't fit but that includes ripping out the old one, fitting loo and sink and retiling the walls and floor.

The thing is bathrooms are like kitchens and you can spend a small fortune if you really want to! Those bloody hand made Italian tiles where the factory closes over the summer are to be avoided!

It depends on the cost of your bathroom suite, tiles etc.

I think our plumber said that the fitting is usually between 1 and 2K for the fitting of 3 piece bathroom and tiles.

Ours cost 4K in total, but I got an amazing deal on everything I wanted including under floor heating, tiles and the actual suite.

Spent 4K, all in except flooring.

Have posted before and after pics - I did use expensive taps and tiles but I sourced everything myself (including the grout!) so that kept costs down I think

Also, even if you are on a budget, don't assume that local independent suppliers have nothing for you. Ours was massively helpful and we ended up ordering everything through him, at prices we could not have beaten on the internet (even though lots of his other customers spend £££). Good advice is invaluable -- he really helped us see where we could save and what was worth spending on.

We were told to expect the costs of fitting to be about the same as the cost of the stuff, and it did work out about 50/50.

£3000 but its because it is quite small and it was a few years ago. Fitted by our plasterer who also does a bit of plumbing and is a fantastic tiler, if its a straight swap then you prob won't need a proper plumber. We got the suite from a local supplier, think it cost around £500, got fairly decent taps, but spent quite a bit on tiles. IMO you can make a fairly basic suite look fab with good tiles/taps.

Actually just found the spread sheet :D the fit cost £1600 so yeah roughly half.

My advice would be go local via recommendation not somewhere like B&Q, have a friend who had theirs done by them as they thought it would be easier/cheaper and have had endless problems, which took months to sort out. You might be lucky to get one of their 'good' fitters but its a lottery and there is very little consistency.

Hope that helps.

thanks for the advice.
i just want a like for like type swap for a new palin white suite.
hope its not gonna cost over 2.500.

Some of the high cost of hours was also because of wetroom complications
