Conservatory flooring; tiles v laminate

Hi

We are just starting building a conservatory which will be used as a playroom all year round.

I'm leaning towards having a laminate wood floor with the theory that it will be slightly warmer underfoot and softer for any crash landings.

But, is there a good reason why I should have tiles which seem to be more of the norm?

Thanks

I was debating this very point, but tiles versus engineered wood.I am having underfloor heating and my plumber has said that tiles would be much better heat conducters than wood.Plus we also have edwardian quarry tiles in the kitchen so it makes sense to coninue them on to the extension. My dc's are 4 and upwards so hopefully the tiles are safe .Do you have much younger dc's?.In which case wood might be less dangerous.

Underfloor heating a definite. Tiles or real wood flooring and a rug.

When you say tiles do you mean "real" or vinyl? We're getting Karndean in ours in a few weeks, stone effect but softer underfoot/less cold. I believe they are OK with underfloor heating too (we're going the aircon route so haven't researched that)

Real ones rather than vinyl.I would rather have a flooring that lasts forever[we have original tiles from 1904 in our kitchen]with rugs on top.I also like real oak.But it is a lot of faff to fit it[as you have to allow time for the wood to adjust to the temp/humidity before fitting]. But i do like the look of karndean. However i have 4 dc's and they are very hard on floors.[and they want to get a dog!].

Yes, tiles much better with underfloor heating. Otherwise engineered wood (or laminate)
