We've been through the wringer with this house sale/purchase and I don't think I can take any more hitches!
I don't think our house is at all likely to attract a negative mortgage surveyor's report, though. It was built in 1980 and as far as we know, there aren't any structural problems.
We're aware of a tiny patch of mildew in the corner of the dining room (stupidly, it's where I kept my sewing machine and boxes of fabric, right up agaisnt the external wall, and it obviously condensed slightly). The wall is spotless and no damp apparent, but the floor is marmoleum and porous and has taken a stain from the mildew.
But I don't think it's an ongoing problem.
What do the basic mortgage surveys look for? We've tidied up, vaccummed for a good 'they keep it well maintained' appearance, etc. Anything else we can do at the last minute? I'm just so nervous of things falling through with the buyers at the last moment (as happened with vendors, but now we've found a couple of houses we like again, it would be devastating to be back to square one again).
