Buyer's surveyor coming today, am stupidly nervous

We've been through the wringer with this house sale/purchase and I don't think I can take any more hitches!

I don't think our house is at all likely to attract a negative mortgage surveyor's report, though. It was built in 1980 and as far as we know, there aren't any structural problems.

We're aware of a tiny patch of mildew in the corner of the dining room (stupidly, it's where I kept my sewing machine and boxes of fabric, right up agaisnt the external wall, and it obviously condensed slightly). The wall is spotless and no damp apparent, but the floor is marmoleum and porous and has taken a stain from the mildew. Sad But I don't think it's an ongoing problem.

What do the basic mortgage surveys look for? We've tidied up, vaccummed for a good 'they keep it well maintained' appearance, etc. Anything else we can do at the last minute? I'm just so nervous of things falling through with the buyers at the last moment (as happened with vendors, but now we've found a couple of houses we like again, it would be devastating to be back to square one again).

Thanks! Smile He's been and gone now and TBH, I don't think he was here long enough to look at tiny patch of mildew etc. Hope he sends off a nice report and allows our buyers to get their mortgage...

They've probably already been but wanted to try and put your mind at ease. We had a surveyor round a couple of weeks ago to survey our house. He spent more time in the garden than inside and all in all had been and gone within 15 minutes. They asked what the asking price had been for the house and I think how long we'd lived there, that was it and there hasn't been any problems since.

PS: We had a dodgy tile in the bathroom, the beginning of damp showing in the bathroom, mildew round the bath, evidence of a leak in the kitchen ceiling!!!

We had a lot of damp in our house and survey was fine. I was very nervous too.
