Anyone got an IKEA Karlstad sofa?

Obsessively planning our new house and had decided on this in dark grey as washable covers.

However realised yesterday that to get cover off arms/frame you need to lift up sofa and unscrew arms.

We have 4 cats and small child, so spills and cat vomit (yuck) do happen, although usually on the cushions which are easily removable.

To those who have Karlstad, how much of a pain in the ass is this?

Ektorp has easily pull off covers, but the style/shape doesn't work as well in our living room, although I am having Ektorps elsewhere.

I have a Karlstad, and it is a bit on the pain in the bum to get the main frame cover off - but to be honest I've only needed to do it once in two years, and it was pretty easy to get back on again - not the war of fabric I'd envisaged beforehand. How often has your current sofa needed major washing? If not often, then I'd get the Karlstad and not worry too much about it.

My friend has an Ektorp and I seem to recall her saying it's the same in that you need to unscrew some parts to get the entire cover off.

Thanks.

I currently have an Angby (bought 10 years ago) and it just pulls straight off. But since they normally vomit/spill on the cushions not the frame it's only the cushions that need regular washing.

@DivineInspiration - You say you've washed your Karlstad sofa cover? Mines filthy and needs a good wash but the label says dry clean only so I'm scared to just shove it in the wash! How did you wash yours? Did it go ok?

Thanks! Sam :)
