WC door opening into dining room?

Would it be Ok for the loo door to open into a dining room? I'm currently using the room as a play room so it's quite handy to have the loo leading off of it, but would it be gross to use the room for dining?

The room is 6m long and 3m deep, so the table would be 2.5m or so away from the loo door. Still a bit wrong, I think? Straight out of the loo and back to your dinner?

Or is it no different to downstairs loo under the stairs, which opens into a living area?

It used to be against building regs to have a wc opening into a kitchen area.

I just think it would be a bit embarrassing if you were having a dinner party, noises, smells Hmm

It wouldn't work for me.

Eww, imagine excusing yourself from the table at your swanky dinner party, accidentally emitting an unpleasant noise during a lull in the conversation, the having to rejoin the table followed by wafts of faecal odour.

Especially if you're hosting a 'keys in the bowl' party!!!Wink

god use some common sense here - for a dinner party just use the loo upstairs. we have a loo under the stairs that opens onto dining room lots of houses do.

Well, the noise thing is dealt with by a whirring fan...

We sit in the playroom while the kids are playing, but I do tend to use the upstairs loo if there are other adults in the playroom!

But I guess if the loo was out of bounds while we were eating, it would be OK? It's not opening into the kitchen, there are 2 door between the loo and the food prep area, which I think is/was the legal requirement.

And I don't 'emit faecal odour' when we have guests in the house.... Wink

Definitely gross - rethink.

I was sent details of a house where a conservatory extension had been added to create a dining room, there was a shower room opening off it!! This caused great hilarity as we imagined exiting the shower room in a towel and slipping on the laminate floor, there were no blinds and the garden was overlooked. To be honest the thing that decided me not to view the house was the fact that unpleasant smells could come into the dining room, it was lovely apart from that. I wouldn't do it, I think a lot of people would feel the same way and it might be hard to sell the house.
