draughtproofing sash and case windows

has anyone had this done and if so is it worth doing, ours our pretty draughty.

got a quote of £1600 for draughtproofing 11 windows, is this a reasonable quote as have no idea.

advice appreciated

That sounds a lot - draught proofing isn't particularly skilled and doesn't generally involve expensive materials. Will watch this thread as I was thinking of having a couple of windows draught-proofed.

sounds cheap to me for doing sash windows properly, we had ours done a couple of years ago and it was about £250/window. We're in London though so may make a difference.

We had ours refurbished - new glass, locks and draft proofing. Was about £300-400 a window (in London).

Draft proofing has really cut the rattling (we live near a train line) and has cut the draft too.

We had this done and it did make a big difference, can't remember how much it was but I do remember it being quite expensive.
