Does it matter? It's for a shower room. I know marine play would be better but it's also about three times the price. Will I regret it if I don't get the marine?

hi tip here is to use use regylar ply and use a sealer on it aplly libererly! espeacaily the ends, most builders do this as its the cheaper way of doing it and just as good if you bought marine ply you would still have to seal all the ends any way!

Oh that sounds good kittycat, thanks

What sealer would you reccommend?

Is the ply for walls or floors?

If it's for walls use Aquapanel wall board instead of the ply. It's cheaper than ply and doesn't need sealing.

If it's for the floor it doesn't need to be marine ply as long as it's WBP grade. If it's not WBP grade ply then you'll need to coat it in a good quality silicone based liquid sealer especially the ends/edges and any cuts or holes. Make sure any fixings used (ie screws and nails) are rust resistant.

The most vulnerable point is the junction between the shower tray and the wall. Make sure which ever wall board you use is thoroughly sealed to the shower tray before any tiles go on.

The marmoleum is for the floor. Will check if it is WBP grade.

if for shower room etc any waterproof sealer would be okay where are you putting it exactly because if its going on the floor i would apply an extra coat easiest stuff comes in a tin and you brush it on allowing it to soak in and is in the wood treatment dept in your local diy shop. but equally you could just use several coats of PVA or silicon it reaaly depends on the amount of area of theply you are using as to the easy of appling it to be honest.
