Tell me about your rubber floors

I would love to hear from mumsnetters with rubber floors - what are the pros and cons? I'm currently considering rubber in a front upstairs room. It is going to be used as a kids playroom initially but may be turned into a bedroom as the boys get older and want to sleep separately.

Is rubber as easy to maintain and clean and as hardwearing as the blurb says? And would it put off potential housebuyers or tenants? There's a possibility that we might move abroad within the coming year, so we have to design our house to be attractive to other families and not just ours.

If you don't like rubber, what is your preferred alternative, and why?

I love the idea of rubber - we were going to put in our kitchen (as house tart-up pre-sale), as wanted something warmer than the ceramic tile, and didn't want to put in underfloor heating.

Didn't in the end, as was concerned wasn't totally imporous (we have cat wee isssshoooos) and also wondered if our cats might dough it (pull up with their paws and hence mark).

So we went for.... ceramic tile again with ridiculously expensive grout that absorbs nothing hence no prob with cat wee...

From memory dalsouple rubber was very good - both tiles and roll.

Hopefully someone who has actual experience can be more help!! FWIW I might feel a bit odd about rubber in a (potential) bedroom... but hey that's another thread entirely....

Thanks jollster, anyone else with comments on rubber flooring? Still thinking about it, with marmoleum being another option. In fact I'm wondering whether rubber or marmoleum would be better for the bathrooms and kitchen as well as the playroom (was previously thinking of ceramic tiles for bathrooms and kitchen).
