Tell me about travertine in the bathroom - Is it high maintenance?

Love the look of it and how solid it feels.
Will need it tiled round the bath/shower enclosure and sink - the floor will be bamboo.
But - is it really high maintenance? Or super easy to look after?

And what about marble?

Our travertine seems fine, make sure it is sealed properly and use stone cleaner rather than anything harsh (I only clean the floor though). I would use a matching grout as well as don't think you can be agressive with white grout as you would be on porcelain. I am quite careful when cleaning taps/bath/shower etc not to get cleaner on them.

We've just had all of ours taken out. Its very porus so it needs to be super-sealed and maintained. OUrs hadn't been looked after and it was leaking all over the shop (it had been used to line the walls & floor of a wet room shower). Our plumber and builder had heart attacks when they saw it. And its very heavy so needs to be properly adhered to the wall - again ours was incorrectly installed and bascially fell off when we jammed a screwdriver in at the side.

So - if its properly installed and maintainedm then fine. But to my mind it is neither functional nor beautiful so - not for us.

Need to seal it regularly and clean it appropriately - we use a steam cleaner which helps.

Agree with a matching grout.

I would say it is fairly high maintenance though.

Arse - high maintenance isn't what I want!
Anyone with experience of marble???
