a bidet in a bathroom in the UK?
Do you think it elevates a normal bathroom to a luxury one? Or do you (perhaps like me ) think they're outdated and that actually you'd be better off putting in a double sink to get that "luxury/top end" feel?

I'm ambivalent about bidets. I don't think they are naff unlike some people. I spent some time in Italy and grew to appreciate them.

We're buying a house with a bidet (put in by Spanish owner). It's a modern white suite. This is TMI but perhaps it will be useful for my hairy-bummed DH!!!! Failing that, DD's dirty pants can be soaked in there or I can copy Alaska's idea of storing bath toys there - good idea!

What is outdated about the ability to quickly and easily wash your nether regions?

Francagoestohollywood · 05/08/2010 17:51

We love our bidets here in Italy.
But of course you don't use other people's bidets

And btw you can have a double sink and a bidet

My parent's house had a bidet in it when they bought it in 1976. Still there, hardly ever used for intended purpose, generally a repository for plants. I used to flood the bathroom by turning on the sprinkler and seeing how high the fountain went. (Very high)

But my dad's Portuguese and as far as he's concerned, bidets are normal and handy. I use them when I'm abroad to wash my feet and bits! TBH, it's very useful and, um, refreshing.

Wouldn't be put out by a bidet in a house, as long as there really was room for it. I would be put off by double sinks. WTF is that about?? It's like a hotel. Never seen the point.

Yes we have bidets and toilet paper.
And special small towels.

Only time I have ever used a bidet was post-birth in the maternity unit. I used it for a wee whilst showering down below to avoid stinging the stitches!

Maybe I'm a prude but I would hate to see one in a bathroom as I don't want to think about arse-washing! Just do it in the shower

As someone who had chronic runny bottom syndrome for 10 consecutive days last week, I would've gladly given my right arm for a bidet.

Andrex stops feeling particularly soft after your 600th wipe of the day.
