We are thinking to move from London to within commuting distnace. Must be direct train into London bridge station. Is Petts Wood nice? Any advice on other areas? We want affordable 3bed house (400k max), near a park and good primary school. Ideally 30 mins max journey time to London. There seems to be a lot of places. Please please, before we visit all these palces....any advice on nice areas?

Is Chislehurst on a route to London Bridge? Lots of families I know from this area (Canary Wharf/Docklands) seem to have moved out there recently.

Yes, Chislehurst is on route to London Bridge, 25/30 mins, and is v nice. Small but has some restaurants and local shops. Easy access to countryside and M20. Be aware that some of Chislehurst is a long walk from the station.

Petts Wood is nice but not much there, bit suburban, but depends what you want, there is plenty of good housing there. Orpington a bit bigger with a high street, direct trains but an average sort of outer london place.

I reckon Sevenoaks is a good bet, bit further out of London but direct trains so only 25 mins to LB, trains run every 10/15 mins to LB, loads of nice character property, and plenty there in terms of restaurants, shops, community and schools etc.
