B&Q kitchens - can anyone share a good experience?

I've googled for reviews and found lots of bad ones but we're quite keen on what B&Q have to offer. (Except the price of the installation but I'm willing to try and hammer them on that!)

On the basis that people are more likely to post a review to complain I'm just wondering if there are any good reviews out there!

Lots of the reviews are complaining about the staff and local store and we have never had a problem with ours. The staff are all really knowledgeable and helpful.

So I just wondered what MN has to say on the matter. (Is it bad that I never make a decision without consulting MN?! )

Have a look at DIY kitchens range.

They have been great and I have a fabulous kitchen.

The DIY is just the design, they will use a design done by another company or help you design but there is a great online design tool that you can play around with to get a kitchen that meets your needs and they do check it, so as long as you have your kitchen dimensions measured accurately it will fit beautifully.

Most of their cabinets come in 50mm increment size wise so you really can fit most sizes.

Their showroom (Pontefract close to A1 and M62) is great - no pressure, unlike WREN who were total pests when I visited. AND free proper tea/coffee with home made cakes.

Picking up from our original review on the 12th May concerning B&Q Kitchens, we are still waiting in August for all of the issues to be resolved (2 years+ since the first complaint was raised)

The bottom line is that problems can happen with any kitchen supplier/ installer, so you would then expect them to address the issues in a professional manor.

B&Q failed to do this, so we had to raise a complaint with the Furniture Ombudsman (what a waste of time they were, dozens of emails, phone calls) etc

Despite the fact that we won the case, being awarded compensation & replacement parts so that we can employ a alternative fitter to put the work right, we are still chasing them (B&Q and the Ombudsman) for the remainder of the replacement parts.

B&Q are deliberately delaying an end to the complaint & we are happy to see B&Q in court if they disagree with this statement!

Yes we have an axe to grind with B&Q, rightly so, as they have treated my parents with total contempt throughout what has been a nightmare experience.

Once again, AVOID B&Q!!!

Just a word of warning Wickes also contract out and they have been a nightmare. Everything except the basic equipment is an add on and we had no real idea of the final price until it was finished. This took 4 months instead of the 3 weeks we were quoted.

Only horrendous things to say about b and q kitchens. Especially in Bristol.
Awful experience throughout and Unfortunately still paying for it

Chocolatedeficitdisorder · 18/08/2019 22:36

We ordered suites for two bathrooms a few years ago in their Boxing Day sales. We waited for months but the delivery kept being delayed because different things went out of stock and we couldn't wait any longer.

We ended up cancelling the entire order and going to a local plumbers merchants for much better quality products at the same price.

We didn't even consider B+Q when we put in a new kitchen.

We had a Cooke and Lewis kitchen installed in our previous house. The kitchen was TINY yet it took them over 3 weeks to install. The 2 guys who were assigned to the job disappeared part way through each day to go to do other jobs for b and q. They complained constantly about this and said they were always having problems with over bookings and jobs taking weeks. The floor tiles were so badly installed (slate) that they were tilted with uneven grout lines and sharp corners sticking up which could have caused an injury. I'd buy a kitchen again but NEVER use them to install it.
