Is this blind too girly for a boy's room?

I bought this blind for my DD's room and have just cut it too short...
DS is five and his room is next on the list to decorate. His window is much narrower so I could cut it (much more carefully this time!) to fit. But it has pink stars on it... DP says it's absolutely fine but this is the man who bought DS pink trainers because they were in the sale..

Sorry, meant to add - so honestly, would the pink bits bother you?

I wouldn't put it in a boys room....

YunoYurbubson · 11/07/2010 15:03

Honestly, no the pink bits wouldn't bother me.

moaningminniewhingesagain · 11/07/2010 15:04

I would. I like it. So it's got a few pink stars. And blue stars, yellow and red.

I keep seeing JL stuff I like!

NeverReady · 11/07/2010 15:09

Hmmm... I see opinion is divided!

I would use it. The red and blue stars are more prominent than the pink anyway.

DryYourEyesMate · 11/07/2010 15:12

I would use it

You may need to replace it in a few years but for now its fine

katiepotatie · 11/07/2010 15:14

i would use it, pink not too overpowering

FranSanDisco · 11/07/2010 15:22

Not against pink for boys but wouldn't use this blind due to pastel pink stars.

NeverReady · 11/07/2010 15:23

Thanks for your replies. It would help if his sister had not just informed him that STARS are for girls..! Where she's got that idea from I don't know. Yes, I could change it in a year or two. By that time DP will have forgotten how much money I've wasted on it!

It would be fine as a backdrop to a room otherwise accessorised with more 'boyish' type things in blue, red, and green, on a neutral colour scheme.

LovingTheSunshine · 11/07/2010 16:59

I would try to use similar blue/red colours to accessorise your DS room so that the blue/red stars in the blind stand out even more than they do now. Looks a nice blind BTW

biscuitsandbandages · 11/07/2010 17:35

my DS would love that!!

NoseyNooNoo · 11/07/2010 17:37

I don't understand why a boy can't have a bit of pink in his room - especially if the blue stars were ok for a girl. The point of that blind is that it is supposed to be unisex. In fact I've thought of buying it for both DD and DS in new house.

What a sad life it would be a if a boy had to have a blue room with a wardrobe full of blue clothes and shelf of boy toys, preferably in blue. Then again my son's favourite toy is a pink toy hairdryer. He 'does' everyone's hair.

TitsalinaBumSquash · 11/07/2010 17:37

No i would use it for DS's room.

NoseyNooNoo · 11/07/2010 17:51

May I just ask the people who've said 'no' why having a bit of pink would be a problem in a boys room?

Quality · 11/07/2010 18:30

I think it's fine, it's really nice!

DD's room is mostly blue, walls, ceiling and curtains, and then green 'hills' painted below, it had jungle animals originally and now has peppa pig and people were that it was a girls nursery.

NeverReady · 11/07/2010 19:20

I've just painted DD's room a pale blue so am not usually particularly bothered by blue for a boy/ pink for a girl. I think you're right NNN, it is supposed to be unisex. Oh well, have to order a new one for DD's room now...

I think its fine. In fact it looks unisex. Its not as though the rest of the room is going to be decorated in pink with fairy figures hanging off everything.

ilovesprouts · 11/07/2010 19:48

no its fine for now my ds2 had a pink pram ,untill daddy fell on it and broke it

Checkmate · 11/07/2010 19:49

I think its unisex too. I've got 2 DD's and 2 DS's, and always go for unisex curtains/blinds, (got something similar from Cath Kidston in smallest bedroom actually) as sometimes we swap around which DC is in which room.
