boden clearance sale - worth it?

there is one happening relatively close to me today (well, not really, but have to go that way at some point this week, so could be today)

Is it worth going?

Obviously it will be a scrum, but how good are the savings?

I would only really be looking for clothes for the dds, maybe the odd top for me.

Oh, and would have dd2 with me - is she liely to get trampled?

Ooooh go, it will be a bunfight, but you can get some bargains, do you generally love sale shopping? Is dd young enough to go in a pushchair? Good for clearing a path.

silverfrog · 27/01/2009 09:51

dd2 is nearly 2, so yes, happy (enough) in a pushchair.

not a total convert to sales shopping, but needs must, and if it means I can get next year's clothes for the dds (well, dd1 really, as dd2 has enough stuff to grow into) then it'd do me.

how bargainous are the bargains - better than the online sale prices?

savings are good, but it can be a bit of a catfight. don't be shy, push your way through if you have to. grab anything you are interested in and keep hold of it until you can go to one side and have a good look through what you've got, then put back anything you're not interested in.

your dd will be fine, but agree about the pushchair if she's young enough for one.

WhereTheWildThingsWere · 27/01/2009 09:54

Oh and don't they start at 10?

GO GO Go now, there will be nothing left.

lucykate · 27/01/2009 09:56

yes, go, and report back with your purchases

silverfrog · 27/01/2009 09:56

yes they do, and I can't get there until 1pm - is it still worth going (according to the leaflet, it is on tomorrow too, but i thought the same as you...)

I could delay, and go tomorrow for 10am (assuming they are holding stock back for tomorrow) otherwise...

Savings are better than sale prices, a couple of years ago I got 2 duffles for dd for £10 each .

weepootleflump · 27/01/2009 09:59

Is it the Harrogate one?

WhereTheWildThingsWere · 27/01/2009 10:00

No, they don't hold stock back, better to go this afternoon then tommorrow, I am , I want to go.

silverfrog · 27/01/2009 10:01

not Harrogate (I wish, though, as would love to live in Harrogate!)

Ok, will load dd2 up and set off once dd1 is at school.

Will report back later

Hope you get lots of loveliness.

nicolamumof3 · 27/01/2009 13:33

is it tunbridge wells? anygood?

kingprawnjalfrezi · 27/01/2009 15:36

Didn't manage to go to Tunbridge Wells today, but believe it is on again tomorrow. If anyone went today can you tell me if it is is worth going - will there be anything left? I've got a bit of a drive and a baby so I don't really want a wasted trip.

silverfrog · 27/01/2009 16:10

well, I went...

It is Tunbridge Wells, not sure if it will be worth it tomorrow.

It wasn't a bunfight - was quite civilised, actually, but there was nothing left for children at all except ski wear and a few t shirts.
An assistant said there was no more to bring out, and that they weren't holding any for tomorrow, but I caught a glimpse of what looked like a pretty full stock room

I was tempted by a raincoat for me, but I didn't really need it, so didn't bother.

Prices weren't spectacularly low, either, only about what you'd pay in the online sale (so children's t shirts @ £9 etc)

oh well, at least i went.

Thanks silverfrog - not sure if I'll bother. By the way is there parking?

WhereTheWildThingsWere · 27/01/2009 16:34

Sorry you didn't have more luck, it sounds waaaaaaaaaaaaay more civilised than ours, but then I have always queued outside before it opens .

silverfrog · 27/01/2009 16:52

maybe next time

there is parking just up the road - an NCP. Be warned though, if you're taking a buggy, there's steps up into the place (only a couple) and today the lift wasn't working inside - there's another 10 or sp steps up to the auditorium... thank god I only had dd2 in the buggy!
