Playmobil - I just bought this and saved lots...

I went to this site ... toys for fun
and bought the Playmobil Road Construction Collection (sorry no direct link - click on playmobil then construction and it is first on the page.

It arrived today (ordered Thur last week). Huge box!!

It is available on amazon for £179 and I paid £120.

The online store is based in germany and you have to pay in euros but the service is excellent and it is free delivery if you spend more than 200 euros.

In total I spent 201 euros (saving the 15 euro postage) and bought the above set plus 1 other playmobil and 2 lego sets.

So thats Christmas sorted then .

Wellll, yes Playmobil assembly is dh's domain, however I will need to be on hand for endless cups of tea and power snacks to keep their (dh and ds) strength up!

Much as I love Playmobil, I am a little bit shocked at the idea of buying an entire range in one go.
Surely the child gets one big thing for Xmas - say the pyramid or the crane - not the entire range?

(Unless it is for the parent of course. That's different.)

Kathy that was my initial reaction as well. DS has been known to get blooming nearly the whole range of something on one occasion, but from lots of different people, and I don't think we would ever (even if we could afford it) get the whole lot in one go all from us - one of the nice things is the DC being able to save up for / spend present money on smaller bits they are missing and really want.

I suppose you could go for one of these bundle deals and then hide some for future occasions, though?

I bought dd2 the complete fantasy castle set - all the rooms, castle etc etc all in one go

from ebay though and it was only £60, almost complete, just a few negligible bits missing

we have a box and when they have finished playing with it, in it goes

and they are also banned from taking it out of the house

so I know that if we lose something, it is around somewhere

we lost a teeny tiny clip thing for the hospital drip once

was found in a random dolls house in the sink

bit mean to hoover up on purpose surely?

Slayerette - a modicum of objectivity:

  • is it within the bounds of what you would normally spend on DS for Christmas?
  • have you already bought other stuff?
  • if not, could you refrain from buying other stuff?
  • does DS have a conveniently timed birthday which you could keep some of it for?

or, failing all else, could you come clean to DH and say that you want it for Christmas ?

Ooops, reading back it does look at bit extravagant doesn't it?

I should explain... It is ds's 5th birthday next week. He will get about £60 worth of playmobil for his birthday. He has asked for playmobil and I though he would like the construction theme.

He will get some more of the set for Christmas and one of the lego items. Our budget is around 150.00 for 2 children which I think is about average isn't it?

One playmobil item is a christmas present for good friends ds. The other lego is for a niece.

I did save money honest, even dh thinks so
