I feel really GRUBBY asking this question but here goes.....if you get those bonus points vouchers from tesco (or with your receipt) for products you won't use, do you buy it anyway?

I have just realised that sometimes you double, treble or even quadruple the amount you just spent.
All those times I have looked and thought "ooh cat food! I don't have a cat" and thrown away a bonus voucher for 250 points for example.
Does this make me a really greedy cow?
Yesterday I spent £20 pounds instore. After paying I checked my receipt and had a bonus voucher for 1000 points if I spent £50 on Tesco direct.
I ordered some gifts for my daughter (which I needed to do anyway) for £56.
The 1000 points are worth £40 in deals

Well most of the time they are for products I'd never buy anyway so I just bin them.

charliecat · 04/06/2008 19:13

I sell them on ebay. Usually get 2-3-4 quid for them. till spits they are called.

NotABanana · 04/06/2008 19:15

How does throwing away a voucher make you greedy?

pellmell · 04/06/2008 19:19

yes but that was the point of me asking.
I've always binned them too because it's not something I use.
Now I have cottoned on to the fact that I might buy something (I don't want) and spend say a pound then the bonus points voucher gives me loads more points so silly not to do it.

Oh no Nab
I meant to say " Am I greedy for buying stuff I know I don't want just to pile on the extra bonus points into my tesco deals bank?"
My grammar is dreadful tonight

No, if you can spend a pound and get £8 worht of poinbts of whatever its not greedy, its sensible. Do you use the stuff? Pass it on, or what?
I check trolleys for till spits, its like finding 2, 3 4 quid on the floor. Lovely!
I only use the things that I buy ones, sell the rest.

mumofdjandbabies · 04/06/2008 20:16

hi charliecat but if you sell the till splits you dont use on dont they have any of your personal details on? x

chocolatespiders · 04/06/2008 20:20

only if it a clothing one, then i just take the clothes back but still get the points!!!

charliecat · 04/06/2008 21:08

none at all. its a receipt from the till, none of my details on it at all.

mumofdjandbabies · 04/06/2008 21:46

ah gotcha

pellmell · 05/06/2008 07:30

so, would every customer have been given a 1000 point till spit?
I just presumed it was linked to your clubcard.

OP posts:
charliecat · 05/06/2008 08:19

No not everyone gets one, they know EVERYthing you have brought because of the clubcard dont they? So they throw till spits at you to get you up an aisle you havent been up for a while...I think anyway.

Yorkshiremum · 05/06/2008 08:27

I think Tesco points are great - we've had weekends away, free days out and I got a watch from Goldsmiths so I don't care if I'm greedy - I try to collect as many as possible!!!

Like charliecat I have sold them on Ebay if I really don't buy that item. My friend collects Tesco points too though so sometimes we swap with each other!

BexieID · 05/06/2008 11:36

Maybe I should raid the bins at work then!

mumofdjandbabies · 05/06/2008 13:36

maybe you should bexie !!

kerryk · 19/06/2008 19:24

at some of you getting a 1000 point one!!!

every month i get one worth 100 points if i buy tampax (about £1.30 a box and £4 back in deals ) but apart from that i get stupid ones like 30 points if i buy crisps/dip.

is there a good time to try and get the bigger ones or is it pot luck?

TotalChaos · 19/06/2008 19:29

If it's a good enough deal, would by the item and give it away to a friend/charity shop etc.

LittleMyDancing · 19/06/2008 19:32

didn't some bloke once buy £6000 worth of bananas because the points on them were worth some astronomical sum in shopping?

Trix11 · 28/06/2008 20:43

How do you know what products give you bonus points?
