Download the Shopmium app and there are various foods and household items either for free, or money off.
The way it works is that you buy the specified product (app has a barcode checker so you can scan to check you are buying the right thing) and when you get home you scan your receipt and the thing you bought.
You can choose to get the money back into your PayPal (quickest) or back into your bank.
If the item is “try for free” you get whatever it cost you back - they know prices are slightly different at each supermarket which is why they want your receipt.
If the item is “try for £1” but it costs say £2.99, you will get £1.99 back.
There are various offers in the app, it’s worth checking daily/before you go shopping, but they generally seem to update on a Monday.
If you set your account up with a referral code (mine is A7YZ2) you immediately get a free tube of Pringles. Then it’s worth referring your partner, mum etc as they will get the freebie too - just make sure you buy on separate receipts.
Plus, if you successfully refer someone and claim a freebie at least once every 30 days, you get promoted to Gold Level which gets you a free box of chocs on your birthday. In previous years I’ve had Lindor and Celebrations.
And - full disclosure - the person who refers you gets £3 credit on their account.
It means that if you buy a £2.99 “try for £1” item you will get £1.99 back from Shopmium, but if you have any credit (say £3) on your account you will get the full £2.99 back, making the item totally FREE. You will keep being able to top up and getting the full amount back for the things you buy until your credit runs out.
There are also other apps for freebies from supermarkets, these are no referral needed:
GreenJinn
CheckoutSmart
ClickSnap
They all require you to buy the item first then submit a receipt to claim the money back. Some things are totally free, some are just money off - but useful if you were buying anyway.
My favourite deal at the minute is that you get £1 off a box of Kellogg’s blueberry wheats and can claim the offer 6x. They are £1.80 in Tesco and Asda, so getting the money back means they are only 80p a box!!! That’s cheaper than Aldi as it’s £1.something for a box there, so a nice saving on something my family eat every week.
