Hello, does anyone use a tried and tested budgeting app? Keen to be more on top of our finances and wondering if anyone can recommend a good budgeting app for family life?
Any thoughts, experiences or tips welcome! TIA x

Not an app, but write EVERYTHING down. Your incoming such as wages or any benefits including child benefit. Then your outgoings down to the last penny from your mortgage, any loan or car payments, the weekly shop, a daily coffee. Do this for a month or two and you're faced with the truth about where exactly it goes. Without knowing your lifestyle, I can't advise to stop drinking take out coffees and safe £15 a week, because you might not drink them... but here are mine: I have a chest freezer and once a month on a Sunday I go to Tesco at 3pm when all their 'whoops' are 70% off... I can half fill that freezer, but only buy what you're going to actually cook. I get lots of bread at that time too. Cook from scratch, if you work full time like me, batch cook when you can and freeze. Walk when you can, rather than drive, for instance I work in a busy city and it's both cost and time effective to drive in than use public transport as I drop my child at school on the way (I have to be in by 8:30, if I got the bus, I'd be late) - but I refuse to pay parking! I park up 15 mins walk away and ramp up my steps instead. I don't buy things unless I need them, I buy kids clothes in sales. I stock check my freezer and cupboards regularly. In school holidays, I'm not guilted into expensive days out, there are a few, but it's once a week, twice if I can find a discount code. I have a water meter, £17 tops per month when it was just me and my DD, £27 tops per month with a bath preferring partner who since moved in. I could go on and on, I won't bore you. To summarise; no app, just the harsh reality of pen and paper.
