Tesco Clubcard and Virgin flights

Can someone explain in simple words how this all works? I've exchanged vouchers for other things but not for Virgin flights. Say for example I want to fly from UK to USA. The going rate is £2.50 = 625 miles. I have £55, which gives me 15,625 miles.

How do you find out what that means in terms of value? Does it vary depending on the route? If you don't have enough value in Clubcard vouchers do you just top up with cash? Is it instant (unlikely!!) or are there several steps in the process?

Hi, I don't use them for virgin but do for another airline. It is more complicated. The airline might restrict the number of seats that can be redeemed with miles. I suggest you go to a specialist website like flyer talk and look at their forum on Virgin for the basics on how redeeming works

I really wouldn't bother.
I have 38000 points. I can fly to New York with those but the taxes and fees are still about £400.
I need about 43000 points to go to orlando.

They are not really available during peak times.

You can buy seats with Milesplusmoney, but that isn't the best value for money.

If you are looking to buy flights outside of school holiday times and can be flexible, they are great.

If you are restricted to the most popular routes during school holidays (such as Orlando) then, forget it.

I have a stack of miles earned during my pre-DC business life and can't use them at the moment, am keeping them ticking over until we can get away without the DCs. A family holiday outside of term time with miles just isn't possible IME. Unless you fancy Nigeria?

You need to sign into the Flying Club website and click on "Spend Miles" and then see how many miles are needed...but I'm afraid the answer is: more.
