Any experience of Groupon?

How does it work?

There's a course I've been thinking of doing for a while, but the price has made it quite a big decision. Today I got a Groupon email for that very thing, at less than a third of the usual price.

It sounds too good to be true. It's for 10 sessions to be used in 3 months. Is it likely that becasue of the offer, it might be oversubscribed and I might not be able to get all my sessions booked in before the expiry? Are there any other possible hitches?

Thank you

I use Groupon quite a bit.
If you go for the offer as soon as you can ring up and book appoiontments because sometimes things do get oversubscribed.

I once left a beauty treatment booking until about 2 weeks before the voucher ran out and they couldn't fit me in.
That said I've had some great experences and offers.
Me and the boys stayed at a really nice hotel for 1/3rd of hte price, I have had lift passes at the Chill factor for £10 which would normally cost £23 and so on.

I have had quite good experiences with it - but check out the company offering the course first. For instance ; I bought a course of IPL (laser hair removal) and it was excellent value and has been great. But also bought a tooth whitening kit and the company I dealt with had terrible customer service (although Groupon themselves did deal with my complaint very well)
As long as you check the company is ok first - their background / where they are etc etc then it should be fine (google them and see if anyone has posted anything bad about them). It's easy to use too - you purchase the course - Groupon send you an email with a voucher and a security code attached - plus the contact details for the company making the offer. You contact them - give them the voucher details and they book you in
If it's a popular offer you do need to get in quick ! I would imagine that if you book on a certain day and call the company to make the appointments - they won't be able to use oversubscription as an excuse not to boo you in. They have made the commitment to a certain amount of people (however many the offer is for) - and they must be able to commit to getting that amount of people onto the scheme (if you see what I mean !)

Oh and create! An idea for Groupon say if you were going away on a break to, say Edinburgh or Oxford have a look under that cities offers.
You could get deals on meals or treatments in that area.
