Any WCPS/ KCS parents living in South Cheam?

Hi everyone,
We are currently looking at schools for our DC and are seriously considering WCPS (Wimbledon College Prep) for the pre-prep/prep years, with an eye on KCS (King's) further down the line.
We absolutely love South Cheam and are hoping to move there, but I'm having a bit of a wobble about the logistics of the daily commute up to Wimbledon.
Are there any current WCPS or KCS parents living out in South Cheam? How do you find the school run? Do your DCs get the train from Cheam station, or are you doing the drive/carpool?
Would love to hear any real-world experiences regarding the journey times, how tiring the DCs find it, and whether there is much of a community of local families in the area for lift-sharing.
Thank you so much! X

No experience with that particular school run, but I used to live in Cheam and work in a school just past Wimbledon. It's definitely doable but it is a grind. It really took its toll on me and I moved schools after a year. That was driving.

DH used to get public transport to either Wimbledon or Morden when there were problems with the trains from Belmont/Cheam and that was certainly doable. But if he had to do it every day, I don't know.

If he was already there and you were moving, I'd say it's doable to allow him to finish there. But I wouldn't advise 14 years of that 2x daily. It is possible, but definitely not enjoyable.

Would you have to get to work after as well?

Our DC attends a prep school in Wimbledon and started reception with a classmate who lived in Cheam - they lasted two terms and then pulled her out as the commute was brutal. It’s not just about you, it’s about a poor tired 4/5 year old spending ages in the car every day. Think about what’s best for them.
